Breaking News
Breaking NEWS!! – Actually some of it is quite old news, but I have had quite a lot of fun reading some different internet stuff and looking at some beautiful websites/instagram feeds this last weekend, so I thought that I would share. Firstly, I was stunned to learn this morning that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have moved to Los Angeles! I was so suprised that at first I thought that I was reading fake news, some click bait rubbish that people put up to get you to their site. But no, it’s true!
And what is funny about it is that it happened back in January and I am sure that you have already all heard about it. I mean, I came and told Rory in a state of excitement, and even he knew and his interest in celebrity/royal gossip is microscopic. I think it is a sign of the times that we live in. All the news for so long has been saturated in covid news, and for good reason, that right now is a good time to do something shocking as a celebrity, and it will get forgotten more quickly than usual.
And I thought that it was quite a good example of someone taking control of their life. If living in the UK just doing royal duties isn’t all that you want to do, then try something else. Most of us don’t have quite the same choice options as Meghan, perhaps, but we can still decide to take responsibility for our own lives, and not just complain about the things that we don’t like. This is a lesson for myself as much as any one, I find that I am a happier person when I take responsibility, rather than passing the buck.
And that leads me to my other fun reading this week. I was reading an article by Alois Gunot (sorry all french accents are omitted by my ignorance of how to use my keyboard) the talented parisienne behind the blog ‘Dress like a Parisienne’. She was talking about achieving outfit harmony by matching your lipstick to another colour in your outfit and she illustrated the topic with photos from other bloggers. I was struck with the face of one and looked at her blog,’ sea of shoes’. I fell in love with this photo of the blogger’s hair (Feature Image) and tried out the tutorial for it as my mother’s day treat yesterday. Then I researched her a bit further. She started a little online diary at age 15, just showing some outfits that she had put together op shopping. Her mother was her photographer and she did her own hair and make up. She thought that it might last a couple of weeks, but she found an audience quickly. I like how she writes her own content, the 60s aesthetic to her hair and styling and plan to copy her hair a bit. 13 years later she has over 200000 instagram followers. A great example of DOING something, working hard at it and seeing where it takes you.
From the same post in dress like a parisienne I found the blogger in the second photo.
(Okay, so another sign of the corona times is that I am finding other people’s feeds fascinating reading at the moment. It make the world a bit bigger more interesting place.)
She has amazing cheek bones! My goodness. And I liked how she is comfortable in her body and doesn’t feel she has to be a stick insect to wear fitted clothing. One of the tricks to looking good is to think that you look good. If you don’t think you look good, then you are missing out. If we like ourselves and enjoy our appearance, even if it doesn’t look like someone that we admire, we will be happier, have more fun and be able to style the body that we actually have successfully. Everyone can look good. Our biggest obstacle to looking good is giving up because we think some physical feature of ours has taken us out of the running.
